La vida es un Carnaval
For some reason when I’m down and wonder where my azabache went because la genta me “estan dando mal de ojo,” I just plug in my earphones, do a quick search on my Ipod and blast the famous music of Celia Cruz.
Without any doubt, no Cuban party or quinces is worth being at if Celia is not played at least twice…… at least. Hands down abuela won’t be out in the dance floor if a Celia (or Willy for that matter) song isn’t on. The lyrics and beat to La Vida es un Carnaval never ceases to amaze me.
Actually, it always reminds me to be thankful for what I have. I know that at times, we forget about the good and dwell on the bad just because the bad hurts us more than the good would ever. Even though the bad is a negative, always remember without any bad in this world we would never know or appreciate the good, so a little bad in life sometimes isn’t such bad thing. Think of it as a little good in disguise. In the end good and bad are a cycle and with every bad action/persona/thing always lurking in the shadows there is some light to be found.
I can’t begin to describe how this song literally changes my mood, The second the beat hits and my hips “magically” start to tumba, and I listen to this genius of a woman begin to praise her anthem and actually listen to her words, you realize “Celia is right, why be sad?”. She triumphantly lifts my spirits once I hear probably the best “pick me up” line: ”Ay, no hay que llorar, que la vida es un carnaval, y es mas bello vivir cantando”.
In that small sentence so much can be said, and actually so much positive motivation spues from it. So in honor of Celia Cruz and in honor of you, I hope you enjoy this little mood shifter if you should ever need it or are in the mood to feel it Enjoy!
Remember to smile and dance, because tears and the hard times come and go.

Good job with Celia but you need to add Roberto Torres he also has a good section of old Cuban songs. Talk to your mom and your grand parents and they will agee and maybe add some other artist to the list. But Celia is the true queen of salsa.
One of my favorites! But then again, every Celia Cruz song is one of my favorites.
No matter what she gets the parties started….
