Hablando de lo que pica el gallo…formando un arroz con mango.
Murphy’s law states that anything that can go wrong, will go wrong. I don’t doubt that it was a Cuban who said if something can get in the way, it will get in the way (or something along those lines) and when it does, esta mas atravesado que un Miercoles.
Today’s distractions were definitely not an exception. Amidst a busy day of work and being late for work and classwork, right smack in the middle of my day I had a quiz to take for an online class. Of course, it would interfere with my work day and my productivity momentum, so to say it was “more in the way (or lying across) than a Wednesday” suit the situation well. More so because it’s a Wednesday.
To get a better idea of what the idiom means, take for example the picture below. It was taken last year while I was directing employees of Dolphin (Landshark/Sun Life) Stadium into a situated parking space. Our parking technique is simple, yet some people just don’t get it and pull stunts like this:
Of course this smart patron could not follow directions, nor could they follow a parking pattern and park next to the white truck ahead. They thought that parking in between two parking lanes was more suitable. Estuvo mas atravesado que un Miercoles.
This guy thought he’d resemble a Wednesday as well:
Leave it to a Miami cop to own not just one lane, but two. To top it off, he was well out into the intersection, passed the light above us. Este tipo was definitely atravesado como un Miercoles.
